July 1992 &#8211; at the Virg\u00ednia Theater in Torres Novas, the show marking the end of the school year at the dance school I had just entered was being performed. Sitting in the audience, aged six, I couldn&#8217;t have imagined how much that piece would fill the lungs of my choreographic work.<br \/>\nExhale. When I looked for the VHS tape on which I had recorded it, I realized that it had disappeared. Without the video record, it opened up space for an exercise in reminiscence and speculation.<br \/>\nConspiracy. In a recent conversation with dance teacher Helena Azevedo, I realized that Mulher Tra\u00e7o Varia\u00e7\u00f5es had been created with the intention of pleasing the Torrejano audience, who had left the hall unsatisfied during the students&#8217; performance the previous year.
