In her dance pieces, as well as in the drawings of this exhibition, monstrous and dreamy references to the baroque and the grotesque emerge from her language. In \u201cToledo\u201d the choreographies of bodies that, at first glance, seem to be frivolous, are both carnivalesque and macabre, as if they were drawn from rituals, comic strips or horror books.<\/p>\n
In an amalgam of bodies that fall, pull, cling, spread, laugh or cry, between the extravagant and the irrational, T\u00e2nia Carvalho creates landscapes and abstract figures made up of individual bodies. The drawings are the continuation \u2013 or a first gesture \u2013 of Carvalho\u2019s questioning of the human condition, loneliness, and her place in the world.<\/p>\n
